Former Sunday Mail editor Edmund Kudzayi, who was previously accused of being behind the shadowy whistle-blowing Facebook character Baba Jukwa has been granted $100 bail after he appeared at the courts today. Kudzayi was arrested yesterday after members of the military stopped his vehicle at a roadblock and found a “camouflage umbrella”. He was taken to the police who charged him with contravening section 32 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act – ” Unlawful possession or wearing of camouflage uniforms”.

Kudzayi appeared before Harare magistrate Edwin Marecha today who granted him $100 bail. The matter was remanded to the 8th of March 2019. One of Kudzayi’s lawyers Obey Shava from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights said,

Apparently, the allegations are that when they searched his car, they found a ZNA uniform(umbrella). Sounds weird right? Well, the real issue revolves around Kudzi refusing to pay (a) bribe to an extortionist in an army uniform. Back in court on 8 March 2019
