Richard Tsvangirai Fails To Open A Bank Account Because Of Sanctions

Richard Tsvangirai, the son of the late MDC founding president Morgan Tsvangirai failed to open a bank account with ICBC China because of sanctions against Zimbabwe.

The bank told him he could not open a bank account because he came from a country on a blacklist that includes South Sudan and Yemen.

This is despite the Acting Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhao Baogang calling for sanctions against the country to be removed.

Richard said: “So today I tried to open a bank account with ICBC here in China, however, surprisingly, I couldn’t do so because I originate from a sensitive country, some of the countries who were on the backlist are South Sudan, Yemen.”
