BREAKING: President Mnangagwa Appoints SB Moyo’s Wife ZACC Chair

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo as the new chairperson of the troubled Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission (ZACC).

Justice Matanda-Moyo is the wife of Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Lieutenant General (retired) Sibusiso Busi Moyo.

Minister Moyo played a steallr tole in the the removal of former President Robert Mugabe in the November 2017 military coup.

A lawyer by profession, Justice Matanda-Moyo was appointed as a High Court judge by President Robert Mugabe in 2013.

Her swearing in comes on the back of her succeess in the interviews which were conducted by the Parliament of Zimbabwe.

Before that appointment, she served as the president of the Labour Court. She also served as the Director of Public Prosecution in the Attorney General’s office.

Justice Matanda Moyo was once touted as a possible candidate to become the chairperson of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) before Justice Priscilla Chigumba was eventually appointed to that role.


In January, President Mnangagwa fired the entire ZACC board including ZACC chair Dr. Job Whabira and the rest of his team after expressing frustration over its failure to secure a single conviction since coming into effect.

Zimbabwe is the 160 least corrupt nation out of 175 countries, according to the 2018 Corruption Perceptions Index reported by Transparency International.
