Fuel Price Increase Has NOT Been Approved Says Govt Officials

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) is insisting that fuel prices have not been review upwards at a time some service stations are reported to have increased the price of diesel to $7.80 per litre from the government approved $4.89 per litre.

The regulator took to social media to explain this position saying,

Following the post circulating on social media on the increase of fuel prices, ZERA wishes to assert that fuel prices have not been reviewed.


This assertion was echoed by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, George Guvamatanga who also took to social media saying,

The Government has NOT increased the price of fuel. While a review of prices was done the decision is that the current prices should be maintained.ZERA will be issuing a detailed statement.
