It is alleged that Jarnett had a heated misunderstanding with other revellers whereupon escalation of passions, he drew out a Tokarev pistol and fired a warning shot into the air. The other revellers and the deceased manhandled Jarnett in an attempt to disarm him, In the ensuing scuffle, the gun discharged and hit Mapfurirwa in the arm.
Investigations have revealed that Jarnett’s firearm was issued for the purpose of protection of cash in transit only.
Prosecutors told the court that he failed to observe and act in accordance with the conditions under which his firearm was issued by virtue of taking the gun to a drinking outlet.
A CCTV video recording showing Jarnett allegedly committing the crime was also shown to the court and is being held as an exhibit. (Watch Below)
