Forced to stay home for weeks without any source of income, Zimbabwe’s sex workers, like many other informal traders, are beginning to defy the country’s lockdown and return to the streets. A se_x worker has been arrested after she was allegedly caught care_ssing a 15-year-old boy at his home in Luveve suburb.

A source close to the case said Fiona Murewa (24) is a tenant at the 15-year-old boy’s family home. The source went on to say whenever the teenager’s granny was not at home she would walk about in a revealing skimpy skirt that left nothing to imagination to lure the minor so as to have se_x with her. The unsuspecting minor fell for the trap. But they ran out of luck as they were caught locking their tongues.

“The granny caught them while they were kiss_ing in the sitting room. She questioned her grandchild about the incident and he dropped the bombshell revealing that he was seduced by the se_x worker and fell for the bait,” said the source.

The granny reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of Fiona.

Bulawayo deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident.

“I can confirm that we arrested a 24-year-old female for indecent assault. We would like to urge members of the community never to trust a relative or a tenant to the extent of leaving him or her with a child,” she said.

Fiona appeared before Western Commonage resident magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja facing an indecent assault charge.

She was not asked to plead and was remanded out of custody to 20 September.
