The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has recaptured a prison escapee who is facing at least 21 counts of robbing and raping women.
Sam Muropa, 31, reportedly broke free from Harare Remand Prison on October 1.
In a statement that was released on its Twitter page, the ZRP said:

It is alleged that Muropa stole the vehicle from one Bruce Muponza after pretending to hire it for a short trip to a place called White House along the highway to Bulawayo from Harare.
Muropa was initially arrested in August after being charged with 19 counts of robbery, six counts of rape, one count of aggravated indecent assault, three counts of indecent assault, one count of money laundering and one count of impersonating an officer after allegedly posing as a soldier to commit the spate of crimes in Harare.
Below are some of the comments from the ZRP Twitter page over the matter.
“And on those who enabled the escape! Otherwise they make a mockery of efforts and sacrifices made by the Police. This is where heads roll and excess baggage bedevilling the prison service sent home!”
“We want to know what you are going to do to prevent this from happening again pls.”
“Good news but we want to know how did he ended up being in the streets.”
“The men and women who keep our streets safe, Thank You.”
