Top South African celebrity chef and reality starlet Somizi Mhlongo-Motoung is expected to grace Garwe Restaurant reopening this week in Harare.

The petite television personality who has his own show Diner at Somizi’s will be the guest chef taking diners on a series of culinary and gastronomic treats at Garwe Restaurant situated in the Eastlea suburb.

Those who are lucky to be invited will enjoy a three-course meal of either western cuisine or traditional cuisine which has been a signature at Garwe Restaurant over the years.

Some of the highlight on the menu include madora meatballs, kapenta tartare and chicken live pate as starters or nyimo soup with a dollop of crushed peanut butter cream.

Guests can also choose from carefully selected desserts that include peanut butter ice cream or masau doughnuts or pumpkin mousse.

For the main course, there is fish goulash, pork goulash, offals goulash, or Garwe Specialty dish of chicken road runner and beef bones. This is the dish that has got Harare drooling whenever the name Garwe Restaurant is mentioned.

Over and above this, there is also another delight of many on the menu and that is chimukuyu (biltong) goulash.

For westerners, they get to dig in prawns & calamari fried in garlic or corn-fed quarter chicken and succulent pork spare goulash.

There is also grilled beef fillet & oxtail meatball as well as pan-fried tilapia fillet and prawns schnitzel.

So far, Somizi has charmed DStv viewing audiences across southern Africa where he opens his home for a series off candid conversations with family and friends around some fun, light-hearted and mature topics all while they make a lovely meal.

Some of the celebrities who have been featured on the show include Pearl Thusi, Zahara, Jub Jub, Cassper Nyovest, and Maps Maphonyane to mention but some. He has also written his recipe book inspired by the dishes he grew up loving at his family home.
