Business tycoon Kuda Tagwirei has finally handed over the USD120k house he promised the Shaya Family in honor of the late football legend George Shaya.
Kuda Tagwirei of Sakunda Holdings last year donated houses worth US$300 000 to three Dynamos and Highlanders football legends: the late George “The Mastermind” Shaya, Moses Chunga, and Madinda Ndlovu.
This was after Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation, Tino Machakaire implored Tagwirei to do something about the welfare of retired soccer legends. Within 5 minutes, Tagwirei pledged three houses to the three football icons.
He said he is going to give the Shaya family a house valued at US$120,000 as a gesture to thank them for how they inspired Zimbabweans during the pre-independence days.
George Shaya passed away at his home in Glen Norah A, at the age of 77. The five-time Soccer Star of the Year had been battling illness for some time.
As promised last year, Kuda Tagwirei officially handed over the house to Agnes Shaya on Tuesday.
Initially, Kuda Tagwirei had asked Agnes to select a house with a value of US$120 000 but she chose the three-bedroomed house worth US$100 000 instead.
The alluring house is located in the affluent gated community of Madokero Estates.
