Last season, Lukaku joined the Blues from Inter Milan for a record fee of €113 million, a move that witnessed the player becoming Chelsea’s most expensive player.
The Belgian guided Inter to its Serie A title after scoring 24 goals and registering 11 assists. This prompted Chelsea to acquire the services of the striker. But unfortunately, Lukaku failed to live up to the expectations of many as well as his prize tag.
At one point, Lukaku reached a point where he even criticized Thomas Tuchel’s style of play after failing to produce meaningful results.
In a 29-minute-long interview with SkySports Italy, Lukaku openly expressed his disappointment with Tuchel’s system. He also revealed his desire to return to Inter.
Having ‘loaned’ Lukaku back to his former club, Thomas Tuchel is set to add Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling to his squad. So far, the negotiations between both parties are running smooth in favour of Chelsea.
Positive feelings around Raheem Sterling deal also tonight. Chelsea have a new bid ready, Man City are prepared to let him go as it was part of the plan – and Raheem is keen on Chelsea move. Personal terms, already discussed. 🔵 #CFC
Second bid is coming. More to follow soon.
