Police have arrested a Ximex Mall dealer barely a day after he threw US dollar notes in Harare’s central business district
On Thursday, there was a near-stampede at Ximex Mall in the area between Innez Terrace and Angwa Street near Zimpost offices when a dealer identified as Boss Pango caused a commotion by making it rain US dollars.
Pango was spraying the elusive greenback in a Toyota Aqua vehicle. People in the area were seen scrambling for money in a video that has since gone viral.
The Ximex Mall dealer, whose real name is Tafadzwa Russel Murengwa, also known as Boss Pangolin, was arrested on Friday for allegedly shooting dead his lover, Sammie Dzapata.
Boss Pangolin’s girlfriend was murdered at Bathroom Boutique, and he is the prime suspect. According to information obtained by this publication, Boss Pangolin shot his girlfriend for cheating on him.
He is said to have fled the scene in a charcoal grey Toyota Aqua with no license plates.
iHarare reached out to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) for an official statement which had not been released at the time of publishing.
Word on the street is Boss Pangolin got a professional job using his educational qualifications and decided to celebrate with his fellow Ximex Mall dealers.
It is not clear which job he landed but he was obviously ecstatic and decided to spread some cheer around. Ximex Mall dealers who spoke to a local publication said:
Mupfunha wedu ashanda. Ende mupfanha wedu awana mari zviri natural. Mupfanha wedu awana graft nekudzidza. Saka mari yepa street ati inofanirwa kudzokera pa street. Mupfanha wedu ashanda ende mupfanha aita mari. Ende mupfanha wedu awana mari zviri natural. Mupfanha wedu awana mari nekudzidza.
The dealers said Boss Pangolin threw dollar bills which he usually carried around with him. – iHarare
