The 65-year-old retired army general drove in six-car convoy with flashing blue lights and no sirens to the Trauma Centre in Borrowdale just before p.m.

witness said that Chiwenga walked into the private hospital on his own and seemed to be in good health.

high-ranking government official told ZimLive“He is going to have surgery to fix some pain in his stomach.
He wouldn’t have gone to China if it wasn’t normal.

Nobody knew how long he would be in the hospital.

No one from the White House answered the questions that were sent to them.
Chiwenga is the health minister and just got married to his long-time girlfriend, Miniyothabo Baloyi.
His choice of private hospital will annoy Zimbabweans, who say that the Zanu PF government isn’t taking care of public hospitals, where more than 90% of the population gets care.

Vivek Solanki, doctor who was born in Zimbabwe but has Serbian roots, owns the Trauma Center.
It is the hospital that Zimbabwe’s wealthy people go to.

Chiwenga had busy weekend because he had to attend events for Heroes Day and Defence Forces Day.

On August 9, Vice President Chiwenga and his wife Miniyothabo attended celebrations of Defence Forces Day at the National Sports Stadium.

From 2018 to 2019, the vice president was treated in India, South Africa, and China for what he later said was idiopathic oesophageal stricture.

After undergoing six months of therapy in China, he came home in December 2019 looking completely different.

“It means that the oesophagus is blocked.

It prevents you from eating and even throwing up. ICU was a place I frequented for quite some time.

“Not many people thought I’d get better,” he told Catholic group when he got back.

Upon his return home, Chiwenga filed for divorce from his wife, former model Marry Mubaiwa, whom he had accused of plotting to upgrade their marriage and murder him when he was on his deathbed.

He has kept Mubaiwa from seeing their three young children for more than two years, even though she is sick.

Chamisa promises decent wages for military if he wins in 2023

As an army general, Chiwenga led military coup in 2017 that got rid of Robert Mugabe after 37 years in power.

After building the framework to run for president again in 2023, his supporters say he is breaking a “gentleman’s arrangement” he made with Mugabe’s successor Emmerson Mnangagwa that he would serve just one term.

In few months, when Zanu PF holds an election, the leadership battle will come to head. Chiwenga is said to be planning to challenge the current Zanu PF leader in way that has never been done before.
