Idols SA cancelled

Mzansi’s popular music talent show Idols SA has been cancelled after airing for 21 successful years.

Entertainment commentator Phil Mpela confirmed Idols SA’s cancellation on his Twitter handle.

He revealed that Idols SA has been renewed for season 19, and that is going to be the music show’s final season.

“TV: Idols South Africa cancelled

After 21 years, #IdolsSA will be bowing out of our screens.

The show has been renewed for a 19th season, which will be the show’s final season.”

Mzansi has taken to social media to celebrate the cancellation of Idols SA as they argued that it was long overdue.

Viewers had got weary of the music show, with some even calling the show to be canned countless times. Tweeps argued that Idols SA should not have been renewed for season 19 in the first place.

@DARKUndisputed;

Thank God, what a useless show. They must also cancel Big Brother

@Noccy_mzobe;

Siyabonga 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼it’s been long overdue yooo

@Rudy1mkn;

Our prayers have been answered

@ZuluBongaSA

Finally someone had to pull the plug. This show was becoming more about the the judges than the contestants, most viewers stopped watching based on the judges panel. I last followed this show the season which was won by Khaya or Musa.

@DindyMandie;

Finally 👏🏾👏🏾😩 the 19th season is not necessary they can leave it as is.

@Jabu_Mcdonald;

With this one I am not sad but happy and disappointed by how it became pointless because majority of the winners just disappear and never make it after the show.

Mzansi has already started suggesting shows they reckon should replace Idols SA. Viewers want South Africa Got Talent, Clash of the Choirs, and Coca-Cola pop stars to return back to the screens.
