Fuel tanker explodes while looters were taking fuel {Video}

FIVE men have been severely burnt when a fuel tanker truck carrying 45,000 litres of Petrol which was destined for Vivo Energy on Mungwi road caught fire.

Zambia Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale said the five who are yet to be identified were severely burnt and rushed to Matero Level 1 hospital.

“They were later transferred to the University Teaching Hospitals where they are currently receiving medical attention,” he said.

Mr Mwale said the vehicle is suspected to have caught fire after the spare wheel underneath the Tanker hit the ground at the gate area where the terrain is not good.

He said after parking the truck, some residents in the surrounding area started looting the fuel.
