Chef Lentswe Bhengu-Mafoko has died.

Mzansi mourns the death of Chef Bhengu-Mafoko. Chef Bhengu’s family announced his passing on the 1st of March, asked for prayers, and requested privacy to mourn the passing of their son. Taking to Twitter, Chef Bhungu’s family wrote:

“It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the untimely passing of our beloved son and brother Lentswe Bhengu-Mafoko, fondly known to the media and his culinary family as Chef Lentswe,”

Confirmed sources have it that Chef Bhengu Mafoko suffered a short illness and died on Tuesday evening at Sandton Mediclinic in Johannesburg. However, the sickness that he suffered from has not been revealed.

Chef Lentswe Bhengu-Mafoko has died

Bhengu Mafoko was born and raised in KwaZulu-Natal. He started cooking when he was eight years old and graduated from the Culinary Academy in the Cape Winelands.

He was one of the most celebrated chefs in Mzansi, and many loved to hate him.

Lentswe left his mark on the culinary industry with his fusion of emotion and fine dining. He was a sought-after chef, cooking at food festivals, events and expos.

He was set to launch his cookbook, Africa on a Plate, next year and had a popular TV show of the same name. He recently made an appearance on Metropolitan’s four-episode TV show; We Start 2023 Stronger on Mzansi Magic.

Chef Bhengu Mafoko’s passing shocked Mzansi, and condolence messages have been flying to his family.
