Chris Rock Slaps Back At Will Smith

It’s been almost a year since the Oscars “Slapgate” made headlines across the world and comedian Chris Rock did not hold back one bit when he spoke about that Will Smith slap for the first time on Saturday evening 4 March. Rock went on a roll during his live-streamed Netflix stand-up comedy special Chris Rock: Selective Outrage: From how he took the slap like Manny Pacquiao to Jada Pinkett Smith’s “entanglement”.

According to Rock, he didn’t fight back for a reason when the I Am Legend actor stormed onto the stage after the Oscars host joked about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, bald head. Pinkett Smith suffers from alopecia, a medical condition which causes hair loss.

“A lot of people are like: ‘How come you didn’t do nothing back that night?’” Rock said.

“Cause I got parents. Cause I was raised. You know what my parents taught me? Don’t fight in front of white people.”

Rock claimed that the infamous slap “still hurts”.

“People are like, ‘Did it hurt?’ It still hurts! I got Summertime ringing in my ears,” Rock said, referring to Smith’s 1991 single, according to BBC.

“I took that hit like [Manny] Pacquiao,” Rock boasted to cheers from the crowd.

ROCK ON A ROLL: JADA’S ‘ENTANGLEMENT’ AND WILL’S ‘SELECTIVE OUTRAGE’
Rock did not only take multiple verbal hits at Smith’s “fat slap” during his new show. He also revisited the shock “entanglement” between Jada and August Alsina in 2020.

“Will Smith practices selective outrage. Everybody know what the f–k happened,” Rock said. “Everybody that really knows knows I had nothing to do with that s–t. I didn’t have any entanglements. His wife was f–king her son’s friend.”

“Everybody in the world called him a bitch. I tried to call the mother–ker and give him my condolences he didn’t pick up for me,” Chris said. “Everybody called that man a bitch. They called his wife a predator. And who’s he hit? Me, a n—- he knows he can beat. That is some bitch-a– s–t.”

According to E! News, which unsuccessfully reached out to Will and Jada for comment after the show, Rock claimed that he “normally” wouldn’t talk about topics of that matter, but the A-list Hollywood couple actually decided to feature that specific story on the internet through Jada’s talk show, Red Table Talk.

TWEEPS WEIGH IN

Social media lit up with reactions to Rock finally addressing the incident, with many noting how artists like Rock often laugh through their pain.

Others felt the comedian’s jokes about rooting for the slave owners in Will Smith’s latest film, Emancipation, were a step too far…as well as him digging up Jada’s “entanglement”.
