Emtee opens up following his arrest

Rapper Emtee has broken his silence after handing himself over to Midrand Police Station on Wednesday, 8 March, after allegedly physically assaulting his seven-month-pregnant wife Nicole Chinsamy on Valentine’s Day this year.

According to Zimoja, the Manando hitmaker was released on bail on Thursday.

During his Instagram Live last week, Emtee was heard having an argument with his mother-in-law who said she was in his house to protect her daughter from him.

In the video, Nicole walked over to the camera, with her cell phone in hand, to show a picture of her bruised and swollen eye due to the alleged assault incident.

“This is what he did to me,” she says. “Show them what you did to me, how you beat me up on Valentine’s Day here’s the proof,” she tells Emtee.

“Here’s the proof. Beat me up while I’m seven months pregnant,” she adds.

Emtee denied the claims during the live video and on Twitter.

Speaking to Zimoja, Emtee said that he handed himself over because he wanted to prove his innocence.

“I was informed that a warrant of arrest was out. I know I have nothing to hide, I am not an abuser. I went to the police station with my lawyer,” he told the outlet.

The father-of-two once again denied beating his wife up. He further said that Nicole was the abusive one, saying she sustained her bruises from attacking him.

“She came charging at me and I defended myself. I did not hit her. I held her and shook her. Why would never hit a woman and a heavily pregnant one at that,” Emtee explained.

The rapper also said that his wife needs to come out and tell the truth because she is damaging his image.

Emtee and Nicole share two sons – Avery, born in 2015 and Logan born in 2018.
