AKA’s killers caught driving the same car used on the day of the shooting

AKA’s killers caught driving the same car used on the day of the shooting. When word spread that three suspects had been apprehended in connection with the murder of rapper AKA, South Africans’ reactions on social media were conflicted.

Accroding to report by IOL, the South African Police Service (SAPS) nabbed three men over the suspected hit on AKA, real name Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, last month. The trio was caught in Cape Town after being tracked down and observed for some time.

IOL reports that currently, the suspects are in interrogation in police custody. The suspects, who have not yet been named at this point, were arrested in Belhar in the Western Cape over the weekend.

AKA was callously assassinated with his close friend Tebello “Tib” Motsoane on 10 February just outside a Wish Restaurant along Florida Road in Morningside, Durban.

Two unknown assailants ambushed him as he was bidding farewell to his friends en route to his birthday celebration at a local club. They then took him out with two billets to the head, and one of the assailants shot Tibz dead.

Reports suggest that investigations teams had been secretly tailing the alleged assassins for weeks. South African Police Service (SAPS) detectives and National Intervention Unit members crept in on the three men at the Erica Square in Belhar on Sunday, IOL reports.

Netwerk24 revealed that one of the suspects is linked to several taxi killings in Empangeni in northern KZN.

Cops managed to trail them to the Western Cape as they committed crimes in KZN, reportedly pretending to be Department of Social Development officials. The suspects allegedly moved from house to house, acting as Sassa agents and offering to aid people in registering for grants.

Investigations then led the police to Belhar, where they watched the gang’s movements before arresting them.

SAPS recovered a white Mercedes-Benz, believed to be the getaway car the ruthless assassins fled with the night AKA was killed. Police are searching the vehicle for fingerprints and other clues that could assist the investigation. iharare
