Over a year after his death, the late Garrison Ngoni Rwizi cannot peacefully rest because his burial has yet to take place because of a string of disturbing events over one year later. His final resting place would have remained unknown if it hadn’t been revealed by a whistleblower that Doves Funeral Services had buried him as well along with Maxwell Chimwamurombe in the same coffin.
Garrison Ngoni Rwizi was then exhumed on November 16, 2021.
Why Family Has Not Buried Pauper A Year After Doves Buried Two Bodies In One Coffin
Regrettably, misunderstandings within his family have led to delays in his proper burial, with some members refusing to allow him to be laid to rest in Chivhu, fearing curses and vengeful spirits because he was an outcast.
Garrison Ngoni Rwizi was allegedly disavowed by his family thirty years ago for allegedly raping his mother and committing other crimes.
However, his burial has become a point of contention within the family. Some family members are attempting to return his remains to their rural home in secret, while others want him buried elsewhere.
The conflicting opinions have caused a rift within the family, and Ambrose Rwizi, a family member, has engaged the chief to intervene and help resolve the impasse.
“I am aware of the incident and the other rival group, who visited my residence twice, are against the idea (of burial in the rural area). I engaged the chief over that matter and he is coming to resolve the matter. I cannot comment further if you need more information you can consult the police or the chief,” he told H-Metro.
An anonymous family member revealed that they are hesitant to bury the deceased’s body as Ambrose, who identified the body, has not provided sufficient information about the identification process.
In 2021, Doves Funeral Services suspended three employees to investigate why an empty coffin was presented to a grieving family.
The remains of Maxwell Chimwamurombe, which were initially mixed up, were ultimately laid to rest at Mbudzi cemetery after the correct identification was made through DNA testing conducted at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
