List of ZANU PF bigwigs who lost in the primary elections

After initially postponing its primary elections, Zanu-PF held them over the weekend, resulting in some unexpected losses for the party’s influential figures.

Several significant party members lost their bid to represent Zanu-PF in this year’s elections and have expressed their intent to challenge the results.

Last night, Zanu-PF’s political commissar, Mike Bimha, informed ZBC that they anticipate receiving all the results today. He acknowledged that there have been complaints that the ad hoc committee will review today.

“We have begun receiving the election results, and we expect to have all the outcomes from the ten provinces by tomorrow (Monday). Additionally, we have received complaints, and we hope that the ad hoc committee will convene tomorrow to assess these complaints,” said Mike Bimha.

Reports indicate that bigwigs such as Phillip Chiyangwa, Simbauneta Mudarikwa, Webster Shamhu and Kindness Paradza lost in the party’s primary elections.

Below are other notable Zanu-PF members who were defeated in the primary elections:

Zanu-PF Bigwigs Who Lost Primary Elections

In the race to represent Zanu-PF in the Chikomba East constituency, Minister of Industry and Commerce, Sekai Nzenza, was defeated by her cabinet colleague Felix Mhona, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure.

Joseph Chinotimba

Despite being a seasoned politician and the incumbent legislator for Buhera South, Joseph Chinotimba was defeated by Ngonidzashe Mudekunye in his bid to represent Zanu-PF in the constituency.

Justice Mayor Wadyajena

In the race for Zanu-PF’s candidate for Gokwe Nembudziya constituency, Justice Mayor Wadyajena was defeated by Flora Buka, the former Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office.

Despite this, Wadyajena took to Twitter and claimed that Buka celebrated her win prematurely, as the Zanu-PF supporters in Gokwe Nembudziya were still casting their votes.

Fortune Chasi

Nobert Mazungunye triumphed over former Minister of Energy and Power Development Fortune Chasi, also known as Chibabest, in Mazowe South constituency. Chasi, the current legislator in the constituency, accepted his loss graciously on Twitter.

Dexter Nduna

Last Chigavazira emerged victorious in Chegutu West constituency primary elections, beating the incumbent legislator, Dexter Nduna.

Nduna, who hogged headlines last week for kneeling and pleading with Zanu-PF members to vote for him, suffered a crushing defeat in the party’s polls.

However, the outcome was not without controversy. Nduna accused his opponent of using violent tactics during the voting process.

Mary Mliswa

Minister of State for Mashonaland West Province Mary Mliswa Chikoka lost her bid to represent Zanu-PF in Hurungwe West. Her brother Temba Mliswa, who is an independent politician, went on Twitter and vented how the election was rigged.
