Lawyer Zweli Lunga Threatens To Sue Acie Lumumba For Claiming He Was Dating His Wife

Following sensational claims made on Facebook earlier this week, renowned Harare attorney Zweli Lunga has demanded a public retraction from controversial businessman and activist Acie Lumumba.

Lumumba charged Lunga with having an affair with his wife, Lilian Madyara, which led to the troubled split of the couple.

Lumumba also asserted that Lunga and Madyara conspired to defraud him of US$200,000 through the sale of marital property under the pretence of investment. Additionally, he claimed that Lunga, Madyara, and their “two lovers” were keeping him from seeing his son.

Lawyers representing Lunga have since written to Acie Lumumba, demanding a full and unconditional retraction of the defamatory statements made on social media. Failure to retract and delete the posts in question within two hours will result in civil and criminal proceedings being instituted against Lumumba.

No Evidence of Acie Lumumba, Zweli Lunga Love Triangle

According to Lunga’s lawyers, there is no factual basis to Lumumba’s allegations. “Our client is happily married to one wife, he does not indulge in extramarital affairs with other ladies nor does he indulge in extramarital affairs with his clients let alone with married women,” the letter of demand reads.

The lawyers further advise Lumumba to approach the Children’s Court to resolve any custody issues, rather than dragging Lunga into his marital issues. “An order granting access to your child is not obtained on Twitter or Facebook but from a Court of Law of competent jurisdiction,” the letter states.

Lumumba Accused Of Cyberbullying and Harassment

Lunga’s lawyers have warned Lumumba of the criminal charges he may face if he fails to retract and delete the defamatory statements.

“We urge you to consider Section 164B, 164C of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act [Chapter 9:23] as amended by the Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07]. These two offenses create provisions relating to Cyberbullying, harassment and transmission of false data messages intending to cause harm,” the letter reads.

In conclusion, Lunga’s lawyers have demanded that Acie Lumumba retract his claims, delete the posts in question and issue an expression of regret on the same online platforms within two hours of receiving the letter. Failure to comply will result in the institution of criminal charges and civil proceedings without further notice. iharare
