Bev Sibanda To Join Koffi Olomide Band

RAUNCHY dancer, Beverly Sibanda, believes she is now an international brand despite being despised on home soil.

The 32-year-old said she realised her potential in 2015 when she first met Congolese rhumba giant, Koffi Olomide.

Eight years after their meeting and sharing the stage with Koffi, Bev created a strong bond with the rhumba stalwart.

“I met Koffi in 2015 and got a chance to showcase my dance moves on stage when he came to perform here. Ever since, we have been in touch and I know most of his moves.

“He still wants me to join his group. At one point he was nagging me to come and settle in the DRC and now he wants me to come to France,” she said.

A fortnight ago, Bev shared the stage with Koffi at a private function in Cape Town, South Africa.

“We are always in touch with The Boss as we call him in our circles.

“The Cape Town show went accordingly and I was happy to be selected once again, which shows that I still have people who love what I do.

“During our meeting in Cape Town, Koffi asked me again if I had made up my mind, but the only challenge now is that I have my own group and it’ hard being in a foreign country when you are not guaranteed job security.”

Unlike most artists and celebrities who were desperate for pictures with Koffi when he arrived here last week, that was not the case with Bev.

“To me, Koffi is just a phone call away. We always chat on WhatsApp. Sometimes he is the one who starts the conversation and vice versa.

“He made me realise my potential and what I am capable of doing.

“On that note, I also want to thank Aunt Zozo (Zodwa Mkandla) for facilitating my trip to South Africa where I met Koffi and shared the stage with him.” Bev is one of the club dancers who has been in the game for over a decade.

She has won a number of accolades both locally and regionally. She can dance to any genre of music, which has made her a favourite of events managers and music promoters both locally and regionally.-H Metro
