Fast X: Dwayne Johnson in Fast & Furious shock return

Despite the actor’s vow to avoid the franchise, Fast X stated that Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs will make a comeback in the future movie.

Johnson’s comeback is depicted in a post-credits scene for Fast X, the first instalment of a new Fast & Furious trilogy that will wrap up the franchise, according to TheWrap. This is in spite of Johnson’s comments over the years that he wouldn’t ever return to the franchise. He allegedly frequently clashed with the series’ star Vin Diesel while filming the movies.

Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson’s Feud

In June 2021, Diesel said that their dispute began due of his “tough love” approach to enhancing Johnson’s acting in The Fate of the Furious. Johnson later replied to queries regarding Diesel’s remarks, stating they made him laugh while announcing he will not return for any future Fast and Furious films, including Fast X. Later that year, Diesel publicly begged with Johnson to reprise his role in the new film, citing his children and the death of the late Paul Walker. “I say this out of love… but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle, you have a very important role to play,” he stated.

Johnson responded to the public appeal when asked in an interview, clapping back at what he called an “example of [Diesel’s] manipulation.” The Hobbs & Shaw actor revealed he had told Diesel privately that he would not return to the franchise, along with their partners at Universal. Johnson called out Diesel for trying to make him come back with his public plea despite their conversations.
