Gospel artist shot at church

South African gospel musician Mxolisi Mbethe nearly met his maker last night when thugs shot him while trying to hijack him.
Mbethe who is known for his famous song, KwaGqitywa Khona, is said to be recovering at an Ekurhuleni Hospital after he was shot during the attempted hijacking.
SHOT AT A CHURCH
His management team confirmed the hijacking incident. “We can confirm the incident that occurred on 12 May 2023 outside Valley of Praise Christian Church in Daveyton where gospel artist Mxolisi Mbethe was booked to perform at an evening service around 19:00. Three armed men tried to hijack him with his driver and manager. Unfortunately, Mbethe got shot and he is hospitalised,” the statement reads.
CONDEMNING THIS BARBARIC ACT
Ukhozi FM radio presenter and Gospel Crown Gospel Awards founder Zanele Mbokazi condemned the incident.
“Mxolisi is recovering in hospital. We condemn the incident and wish him a speedy recovery. Our prayers are with him. We have been in contact with his management since morning,” she said.
