Even Pitso Mosimane doesn’t have the magic to save Kaizer Chiefs

After yet another underwhelming campaign, Pitso Mosimane’s name is automatically brought up as Kaizer Chiefs consider their managerial options at Naturena.

The Glamour Boys complete the season without a single trophy, they won’t participate in the CAF Champions League next year, and if they lose to Cape Town City the next weekend, they might finish as low as fifth in the PSL. Pitso Mosimane has an accomplishment list that most African managers would enviously strive for, but does he want to lead the Glamour Boys in a risky undertaking at Naturena?

Chiefs require a serious overhaul

Currently, Naturena won’t get CAF Champions league football back right away from a figurehead management. Even Pitso Mosimane lacks the special touch needed to turn the Chiefs become PSL contenders again the following year. Can he bring in a couple of talented new players for the team? Maybe. At this point in his career, does he want to take on a rebuilding challenge of this kind? It’s unlikely.

IT WILL TAKE A FEW SEASONS FOR THE KAIZER CHIEFS TO RETURN TO THE TOP

The South African states that Pitso Mosimane is the type of man to take over an established, well-run club and take them to a new level. The brief at Kaizer Chiefs right now is to nurture a handful of talented young players and make sure they improve in parallel together. Pitso’s not the guy for that. The three-time CAF Champions League winner might have different fish to fry.

Not even Mosimane can save Chiefs right now, but that doesn’t mean someone else can’t.
