DJ Zinhle, also known as Ntombezinhle Jiyane, paid a heartfelt tribute to her late “baby daddy” AKA on Father’s Day, which marked their daughter Kairo Forbes’ first Father’s Day without her dad.
AKA, whose real name is Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, tragically lost his life on February 10 when he was shot outside Wish Restaurant on Florida Road, moments before his scheduled performance.
DJ Zinhle and AKA welcomed their daughter Kairo Forbes in July 2015, and the bond between father and daughter was evident in their joyful dances and shared moments. On her Instagram Story dedicated to AKA, DJ Zinhle expressed her love for Kairo and extended her affection to AKA’s mother, Lynn Forbes. She wrote, “@kairo.forbes we love you so much! We will always let you know how great your dad was. @lynnforbes sending you all my love. Happy heavenly Father’s Day.”
The DJ, who is also the mother of one-year-old Asante Mohosana with her soon-to-be-husband Murdah Bongz, has been a supportive figure to Kairo since AKA’s passing.
However, the prospect of Kairo’s first Father’s Day without her dad caused DJ Zinhle anxiety. In May, she even canceled a gig in Durban as she was not emotionally ready to return to the city where
AKA was tragically killed. DJ Zinhle expressed her concerns about how to address Father’s Day with Kairo, pondering, “What am I going to say to Kairo on Father’s Day?” according to Tshisa Live.
DJ Zinhle continues to honor AKA’s memory and support her daughter through this difficult time, ensuring that Kairo knows how special her father was.
