Buried In The Wrong Place: Man’s Ghost Forces Exhumation

A Chivhu family were forced to do the unthinkable, exhuming their father’s remains as his ghost incessantly haunted them for having been buried in the wrong place.

According to H-Metro, polygamist Shadreck Rwizi passed away while residing in Mhondoro with his second wife. After the passing of his senior wife, he went to Mhondoro and had children from his first marriage in Chivhu.

Rwizi reportedly told his cousins before he passed away that he wished to be buried in Chivhu. However, this resulted in disputes between his two families about the location of his grave.

He wished to be buried at Mhondoro, according to the second family, which led to a dispute over his final resting place.

Eventually, Rwizi was buried in Mhondoro, but strange occurrences soon followed. The family reported that dogs barked incessantly at night, and babies cried without reason, leading them to believe that his spirit was not at peace.

According to a close relative, one of Rwizi’s family members claimed to have received a message from the deceased instructing them to rebury him in Chivhu. Faced with these eerie happenings, the family decided to exhume his body and fulfil his supposed wish for a Chivhu burial.

However, the exhumation wasn’t without its share of drama. Some family members opposed the idea, especially Rwizi’s second wife, who felt it was unfair to disturb his remains, given that he had been staying with her when he passed away.

This wasn’t the first time such an unusual event occurred within the Rwizi family.

“On November 16, 2021, the body of their relative who had been given a pauper’s burial was exhumed from Granville Cemetery. Garrison Ngoni Rwizi had been buried with one Maxwell Chimwamurombe in the same coffin.”

As the family awaits a post-mortem examination in Harare for Shadreck Rwizi’s body, some members feel that a cleansing ritual may be necessary, considering the strange events surrounding these exhumations.
