Blood Bath KwaAngie: Revelers Beat Up At A Popular Harare Bar

Revellers were yesterday randomly attacked by unknown assailants at a popular drinking spot in Harare last night.

Gripped by the excitement and anticipation from the election results, some Harare revellers went to The Cork Restaurant and Bar in Belgravia, popularly known as KwaAngie on social media and joy circles, iharare reports.

People usually go there because of the party vibe, catchy music and savoury outdoor food at “KwaAngie.”

The owners of the thrilling spot are also friendly and enticing, as they posted on 23 August:

“Come and enjoy your ice cold beer kana mapedza kuvhota.”

So despite 24 August being in the midst of a working week, and not being a public holiday, Harare’s party animals slid their way into KwaAngie for a good time.

However, the jolly night was not to be, as unknown men stormed the spot and unleashed thorough lashes of discipline on the party lovers.

Veteran journalist Nqaba Matshazi, who is the former Alpha Media Holdings’ head of online and digital and ex-Deputy Editor of Newsday Zimbabwe, tweeted at 21:10 yesterday:

“Bloodbath at Angie’s joint in Belgravia. People with batons and whips are randomly assaulting patrons. Some of the whips have barbed wire. The attackers tasered some patrons and grabbed their phones. Some patrons locked themselves in the bar. Attackers left immediately.”

Matshazi added that the owners of KwaAngie confirmed that they were told not to open the spot, but they were stubborn.

He revealed that a similar attack happened at ZimCafe Restaurant in Harare yesterday.

The identity of the assailants is unknown.

Social media users expressed varying reactions over the chaos at the popular Harare bar, KwaAngie, last night.
