Nutty O Biography

Carrington Simbarashe Chiwadzwa was born on 22 June 1992 at Edith Operman in Mbare, Harare. His innate musical gift was sparked by the music he grew up listening to at a tender age, specifically UB40, he was a fan and a half.

At a tender age he was exposed to a lot of reggae music which he enjoyed listening to with his father. Against that background Nutty O was able to milk music capital which enabled him to evolve from being a listener to a brilliant yet rare musician.

High school to Nutty O was not only a learning hub but it was an environment that birthed the fully-fledged musical career for Nutty O. The name Nutty O is sacrosanct, he was given that name by his peers back then in high school, Nutty was a name that was given to crazy and lit guys and being accorded with such a name was a befitting honour. “O” was an abbreviation of Operator in full, he was called Nutty Operator, that rare guy at school who could use his musical stamina to electrify the harsh and strict learning environment.

Educational wise, Nutty O after finishing his Advanced Level proceeded to study Telecommunications Systems and Digital Marketing. Musicians are deemed as highly uneducated, well Nutty O’s song Prove Them Wrong is the answer to this stubborn opinion.

Nutty O decided to launch a fully-fledged musical career in 2014. His talent was scouted and recognised by the veteran music producer Funkydalic the Cashlibs City Producer. Since then the lethal combination of the two enabled them to release a myriad of hit songs which made them to grab the attention of the streets. From then airplay and radio interviews haunted the two relentlessly.

In 2015, Nutty O joined Kenako Muzik. During that time it housed musical heavyweights and decorated music producers Dj Tamuka and Oskid. Nutty O released a smash hit Kwandabva Kure which did very well on local charts and beyond. Internationally the song occupied the third spot on the Dj Edu BBC Radio 1 Extra Destination Africa DNA Show. This was the turning point in his career. It widened his audience and motivated him to strive for more. The same year in August, he shared the stage with the energetic Jamaican artist Charly Black. Nutty O closed the year on a high note after he was nominated as the most promising artists by the Zimdancehall Awards.

In 2016, Nutty O further accelerated his musical tempo when he released another hit single Do It Alone which was produced by his musical partner in crime Dj Tamuka. The song enabled the Jamaican audience to give him an ear for the song was premiered on Jamaica’s Suncity Radio 104.9 FM. The international market was further widened and this led Nutty O to be featured by one of Jamaica’s fine dancehall act Chilando on a song titled Don’t Be Rude. As a tried and tested brand he toured the UK where he delivered a spirited performance. His tour like veld fires spread South of Limpopo and he concluded the year by touring Capetown, Johannesburg and South Africa.

The Military Touch Movement released a hit song titled Chekeche and his killer verse took musical lovers on a date. His first single with Military Touch Movement which was titled Bugatti became the streets anthem and the ghetto centric musical video was a good icing to the cake tasting musical audio. Bugatti music video premiered on Trace Africa and climbed to Number 5 on the Norway iTunes reggae chart. The fruits of his hard-working art bore fruits as he scooped the Best New Comer Award at the Zimdancehall Awards the same year.
