Seven suspects arrested for various murders in Midlands

In a significant breakthrough, the police in the Midlands province have apprehended seven individuals in connection with three separate murder cases that occurred between December 25 and 27. The Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed the arrests, shedding light on the disturbing incidents.

The first incident involved a dispute over a ƨǝx worker at Empress Mine Business Centre on Christmas Day. Tafadzwa Tendereki (20) allegedly stabbed Jackson Kapeni (20) to death with a knife. Two days later, Tendereki was arrested in Battlefields after seeking refuge there. His father handed him over to the police, leading to his apprehension.

In another tragic incident on Christmas Day in Kwekwe, four suspects were arrested for the fatal stabbing of Clive Madhlolo (26) with a sharp object. The suspects, identified as Kizito Mpofu (23), Luke Javhure Garamukana (21), Luckson Ngoni (23), and Munashe Chitondo (18), were nabbed following the discovery of Madhlolo’s body by a passer-by in the Kwekwe Central Business District. Prompt police action, coupled with information provided by the public, led to the swift arrest of the four suspects on December 27.

Additionally, two more suspects were apprehended in Gweru for allegedly killing Blessed Jakalasi (28) by assaulting him with a hammer. The suspects, identified as Brian Chivanga of Woodlands, Gweru, and John Chirefu (25) of Ironside, Shurugwi, allegedly confronted Jakalasi along the Woodlands-Gweru Town route, demanding an unspecified amount of money owed to them. Despite the driver’s attempted intervention, Jakalasi was fatally injured. He was rushed to a Gweru Provincial hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

These recent arrests highlight the commitment of the Midlands province police in swiftly bringing perpetrators of violent crimes to justice. Inspector Mahoko urged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies in providing valuable information that aids in solving such cases.
