Leaders of the Patriotic Alliance (PA), Gayton McKenzie and Kenny Kunene, along with PA members, prevented hundreds of foreigners from crossing the river from Zimbabwe into South Africa near the Beitbridge border post.

McKenzie claimed that PA members intercepted nearly 1,000 Zimbabweans trying to enter South Africa illegally.
He accused a “mafia syndicate” involving police, the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), local farmers, and traffic officials of facilitating illegal border crossings.
McKenzie stated that PA members had been camping in the area for days to prevent the return of those attempting to cross the river.

He also claimed they found people with illicit cigarettes, dynamite, and unlicensed firearms.
