Mother, Boyfriend arrested for selling Joshlin Smith for R20,000

Reports suggest that the child may have been sold for R20,000. Joshlin Smith remains missing as the search for her continues.

Western Cape police also confirmed that detectives are currently questioning four people as part of an extensive investigation into the disappearance of six-year-old Joshlin Smith in Saldanha Bay.

According to sources close to the investigation as reported by Netwerk24, two out of the four suspects purportedly admitted to selling Joslin to a Middelpos individual for R20,000. The revelation sheds light on the circumstances surrounding Joslin’s disappearance and implicates individuals in a potential trafficking scheme.

The search for the little girl enters its 16th day on Wednesday. Joslin Smith vanished from her family home in Middelpos after being left in the care of her mother’s boyfriend.

“Two men and two women are currently being questioned by a team of Western Cape detectives. The four are between the ages of 26 and 34.

“It is envisaged with the process being undertaken that light will be shed as to what happened to the six-year-old girl. With the investigation unfolding, arrests are on the cards,” said the police’s Novela Potelwa.

Meanwhile, Western Cape Police Commissioner Thembisile Patekile said the questioning of people began at the start of the frantic search.

“The questioning will lead us now to where..whatever leads that we find, we’ll follow those leads, even the fact that there are people alleging that this child was sold, that we will follow.”
