DJ Tira rewards honest e-hailing driver for returning lost car keys

South African music producer DJ Tira, actual name Mthokozi Khathi, recently appealed with a driver after leaving his costly car keys inside an e-hailing car.

The event occurred on Saturday, March 2, when DJ Tira traveled from Roodepoort to OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg for business.

However, when he arrived at his location, he discovered that he had left the keys to his car. After reviving his memory, DJ Tira attempted to contact the driver through their app but was unable to.

He then moved to social media to ask for the recovery of his keys, even offering to compensate the driver if he returned the keys.

Speaking to ZiMoja last week, the DJ said cutting the new key and programming it was possibly going to set him back over R12 000. He also said he was not blaming the driver for his ‘carelessness’. “All I need is for him to reach out and give me the key back. I would really appreciate it and reward him,” he said at the time.

According to the grateful DJ Tira, the kind driver reached out to him after he saw his plea over the weekend. DJ Tira says he was shaken when he received a direct message from the driver saying that he had the key, which he delivered to the DJ personally. He said him and the driver who he mentioned only as Enos had a little chat about the day he lost his keys

“He told me he didn’t realise that he had my keys until much later and he tried to reach out to me through the app but also failed until he saw my plea in the media,” he said. DJ Tira also said he kept his word and gave the drive a reward of R5 000. “I can safely say both parties are happy,” he added. “The amazing about the power of social media. It’s such a powerful tool although sometimes we turn to abuse it or misuse it.”
