Harare-Nyamapanda Road Accident Kills 7, 5 Left Injured

On Tuesday, 11 June, at approximately 4.25 PM, a tragic road traffic accident occurred at the 120-kilometer mark along the Harare-Nyamapanda Road, resulting in the loss of seven lives and injuries to five others.

According to Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the accident was caused by a Toyota Quantum vehicle experiencing a right front tyre burst, leading to the vehicle veering off the road and colliding with a tree.

The vehicle was reportedly travelling in the direction of Harare.

Among the victims, five individuals have been identified by their next of kin. They are Michael Mugandani (36), Innocent Nyamukondiwa (37), Edith Musorowembudzi (36), Dumisani Mutsawa (33), and Mabhebhe Chingamuka (6). The identifies of the victims was confirmed by Commissioner Nyathi.

 

 

The remaining two victims are yet to be identified by their next of kin. The injured victims were admitted at Murewa District Hospital whilst the bodies of the victims were taken to Mutoko Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that motorists should observe stipulated speed limits and abide by the road rules and regulations to save human lives.
