Tawanda Chirewa Hailed Despite Warriors 1-3 Loss To SA

Zimbabwe has not yet secured a victory in the current CAF 2026 World Cup qualifiers. They lost 3-1 to South Africa on Matchday Four at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on Tuesday evening. The Warriors’ previous match resulted in a 0-2 defeat by Lesotho, and they drew their other two matches against Rwanda and Nigeria in November 2023.

During the South Africa match, Bafana Bafana scored early on when Iqraam Rayners took advantage of a defensive mistake by Munashe Garan’anga and scored in the opening minute. Tawanda Chirewa quickly equalized for the Warriors just 60 seconds later. South Africa thought they scored a second goal through Rayners, but Elias Mokwana was ruled offside.
