Zandi Khumalo, MacG benefitted from Gayton McKenzie’s Ministry
Gayton McKenzie, the new Minister of Sports, Culture, and the Arts, vowed transparency and published the names of people who received department funds during the Covid-19 outbreak.
Among those named were artists Zandile Khumalo, her sister Kelly Khumalo, Makhadzi, and many more.
Zandile Khumalo came to Instagram to share that she was paid R20,000. She stated that the government requested applications from people who had lost their jobs and money due to the epidemic.
She applied, followed the requirements, and got accepted. Zandile also playfully expressed her disappointment at not receiving the R200,000 she had hoped for.

Makhadzi also disputed that she got R203,000 from the department in the last 14 months.
The release of the list caused Podcast and Chill host Mac G, real name Macgyver Mukwevho, to trend on X. Many South Africans were surprised to see that he received R75,000 because he often speaks against favouritism.
The list also includes famous names such as the Rebecca Malope Foundation, Busiswa Qqulu, Dumisani Mbebe, Arthur Mafokate and his son, and Bethusile Mcinga.
Social media users also noticed several Nigerian artists on the list, including Adetola John Aina, aka Ola Sax, who received R20,000.
