Family of Gospel Musicians Die in Plane Crash

WYOMING. — In a deeply saddening development members of The Nelons, an American gospel group died in a plane crash on Friday.

The tragedy claimed the lives of Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, along with their daughter, Amber Nelon Kistler, as well as four other individuals. The group was en route to a performance when the aircraft went down over Wyoming.

 

Autumn Nelon Streetman, another member of The Nelons, who was not on board the fatal flight, confirmed the devastating loss of her parents and sister on Instagram. She expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from fans.

The crash also claimed the lives of Amber’s husband, Nathan Kistler, the family’s assistant, Melodi Hodges, and the pilot, Larry Haynie, and his wife, Melissa Haynie. Reports indicate that the passengers were travelling to Seattle to join a cruise ship for an upcoming performance.

 

According to local media, the plane crash, which occurred north of the town of Gillette, resulted in a wildfire. Preliminary reports from the National Transportation Safety Board suggest that an “auto pilot issue” may have been a factor in the crash.

 

Autumn, the youngest member of the family act, was awaiting the arrival of her parents and sister in Seattle when she received the heartbreaking news. She expressed her appreciation for the support and prayers extended to her, her husband Jamie, and their soon-to-be-born baby boy, and Jason’s parents, Dan and Linda Clark.

 

The Nelons, founded by Rex Nelon, have been recognized with three Grammy nominations and were inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2016. Their notable hits include “I Shall Not Be Moved,” “Come Morning,” and “We Shall Wear a Robe and Crown.” In addition to her musical pursuits, Kelly Nelon Clark was also known for acting and appeared in the ABC fantasy drama, “Resurrection.”— BBC.
