“God spoke to me”: Baba Harare opens up on reason for quitting Jiti music
Baba Harare has recently spoken about his new marriage and his shift from Jiti to gospel music.
This follows a report in the daily tabloid H-Metro, which cited unnamed former friends alleging that the musician’s transition to gospel music was influenced by his new wife.

Baba Harare refuted the claims that he recently got married, stating that he and his wife have been married for some time but chose to keep their relationship private.
“I have heard people say I recently got married, which is false. I have been married to her for some time, but I did not want her to be in the media. Social media went into an overdrive when her images were publicised with many versions coming up,” he said.
The 35-year-old multi-instrumentalist also denied that his wife influenced his decision to leave Jiti for gospel music. Instead, Baba Harare described a spiritual calling he experienced during a sold-out show in Australia.
“Early this year we travelled to Australia with my group where I had a sold-out show. The fans embraced my music, but God spoke to me and convinced me to quit secular music and serve Him. I know I will miss travelling and stuff but I do not regret this move. This is the wisest move I have made in my life,” Baba Harare explained.
Baba Harare is expected to launch his debut gospel album titled “Repentance” this Sunday at the 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale, Harare. Renowned gospel musicians such as Minister Michael Mahendere, Takesure Zamar, Jona Chivasa, Tatenda Mahachi, and Sabastian Magacha are expected to attend the album launch.
