Just 24 hours after being released from prison, Jamaican dancehall artist Vybz Kartel wasted no time in getting back to his musical endeavours.
He recently announced the release of a new 12-track project titled “First Week Out” on the platform X. The album, distributed by Hapilos, showcases Kartel’s solo artistry with just one collaboration featuring Squash.

Some of the tracks on the album include “Feel Great” (Intro), “The Menace”, “Terror by Night”, “Unstoppable”, “Skilful”, “Adiadking”, “Giant”, “Victorious”, “Beat Dem Bad”, “Win”, “Success Story”, and “Number One”.
Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, had been incarcerated at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Facility prior to his release. His freedom was granted after the Court of Appeal overturned his murder conviction stemming from the September 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.
Following his release, fans in the Corporate Area expressed widespread jubilation at the news. Kartel and his co-accused, Shawn “Shawn Storm” Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre St John, were initially convicted of the crime, but their appeal was dismissed by the Jamaican Court of Appeal in 2020. Subsequently, they sought recourse from the Privy Council in the United Kingdom, which eventually overturned their murder convictions on March 14 due to juror misconduct, thus sending the case back to Jamaica’s Court of Appeal.
