A bogus medical doctor who is a former nurse from Mbizo 5 in Kwekwe has been found guilty of illegally performing four surgeries in Gokwe.
According to The Herald, Admire Munyeki appeared before Kwekwe Magistrate, Grace Tupiri, where he faced four charges for violating the Medical Act by falsely presenting himself as a medical practitioner and engaging in unauthorized medical practice.
Munyeki admitted guilt to the charges and has been remanded in custody until Thursday for sentencing.
The court heard that on January 5, 2024, Munyeki claimed to be a dental practitioner when he saw Stella Sibanda, who was suffering from a toothache. Munyeki extracted two of Sibanda’s teeth, which led to further pain. Sibanda sought medical attention at Samuchembu Health Centre, where the matter was uncovered.

On March 1, 2024, Munyeki performed a circumcision on Daison Chelo, who sought treatment for pain in his private area. Chelo experienced complications and reported to Samuchembu Health Centre, where Munyeki’s unauthorized practice was exposed.
Munyeki also falsely presented himself as a medical doctor and operated on Taimon Ndege for a hernia. Ndege experienced complications and was taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital, where the unauthorized surgery was discovered.

Additionally, Munyeki impersonated a medical practitioner and performed surgery on Erisha Siakachoma’s neck to remove a growth. Siakachoma later visited Samuchembu Health Centre.
Munyeki was arrested at a funeral wake in Chirape, Gokwe, last Monday.
