Human bones found at Scott Sakupwanya’s office in Harare

A shocking and unsettling discovery has been made at the Harare offices of prominent politician and gold dealer Scott Sakupwanya. The disturbing find occurred during renovations at the offices of his company, Better Brands, located on Churchill Road in Avondale. Construction workers were in the process of uprooting a tree on the property when a worker operating an excavator unearthed bone fragments that appear to be of human origin.

Prompted by the grisly find, the Avondale police were immediately called to investigate the scene. Authorities are treating this discovery with the utmost seriousness and have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.

Bone samples have been carefully collected from the site and have been sent to a forensic laboratory for detailed DNA analysis, aimed at confirming whether the remains are indeed human. This crucial analysis is expected to take several weeks to complete, and the results will be integral in shedding light on the nature of this troubling discovery.

According to a police memo, Scott Sakupwanya may not be a person of interest as he recently purchased the property. It was previously occupied by a company called Afrihype Nyakatsanga Safari, which has since relocated to South Africa.

Sakupwanya, who is the Member of Parliament for Mabvuku and owns the gold mining and marketing company Better Brands, has not yet responded to requests for comment on the shocking discovery at his company’s new offices.

Better Brands is a major player in Zimbabwe’s gold industry, claiming to supply nearly half of all gold deliveries to the official buyer, Fidelity. In 2023, the company delivered 13 tonnes of gold, accounting for a significant portion of the country’s total gold sales of 30.1 tonnes.
