Ukhozi FM presenter Zanele Nkambule dies

Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, known as both an Ukhozi FM host and the creator of the Crown Gospel Awards, has passed away.

The renowned radio host lost her battle with stage 4 lung cancer at Parklands Hospital early on Monday morning. She would have celebrated her 53rd birthday on November 7.

Her husband, Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule, who was born in eSwatini, affirmed the news through a written statement.

The statement reads, “It is with a heavy heart that we, the Nkambule and Mbokazi family, announce the passing of our beloved Ms Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, founder of the Crown Gospel Music Awards and Ukhozi FM radio personality.”

“She departed to be with the Lord in the early hours of August 12, 2024, at Parklands Hospital. We are thankful for all the prayers, love, and support we received during her illness,” the statement added. The family has requested privacy during this time of grieving.

“The family would appreciate privacy as we navigate through this challenging time,” shared Bishop Nkambule. In June, Zimoja had reported a prayer meeting organized by her church members, gospel artists, and other media stakeholders for her swift recovery. She collaborated with numerous gospel musicians nationwide, and condolences have begun pouring in following her passing.
