Stepmother from Hell and Deadbeat Father: Tuku’s Legacy Soiled after Selmor Interview With DJ Ollah 7
The public drama within the Tuku family continued to unravel yesterday as the late music legend Oliver Mtukudzi’s daughters, Selmor and Sandra, took to a podcast hosted by DJ Ollah 7 to air their grievances against their stepmother, Daisy Mtukudzi.
The no-holds-barred interview exposed further divisions within the family, with both sisters openly expressing their frustration and pain over ongoing issues.
Selmor, who was recently added to the final line-up for the OMIFA 2024 following a wave of public support, shared the emotional experience of performing at her father’s iconic venue, Pakare Paye. She revealed that stepping onto the stage for the first time since her father’s passing stirred deep emotions, as she was confronted with the reality of his absence.
“It was my first time performing at the Pakare Paye stage after the death of my father,” Selmor stated during the interview. “I became emotional when we arrived only to see my father’s office locked.”
Despite these challenges, Selmor expressed gratitude to the fans who welcomed her with open arms, describing their support as a source of comfort and motivation. “When I appeared on stage, I was touched by the people who showed me love,” she said, recalling the heartfelt reception she received.
The podcast also saw Sandra adding fuel to the fire by criticizing Daisy’s management of the family’s affairs, particularly those related to Oliver Mtukudzi’s legacy. The two sisters accused Daisy of sidelining them and failing to preserve their father’s memory in the way they believe it should be honored.
The ongoing feud has attracted significant public attention, as it involves one of Zimbabwe’s most revered musical families. With emotions still raw, it remains uncertain whether there will be a resolution or further escalation of the tensions that have come to define the Tuku family saga
