Hawks Hunt for Alleged Fraudster Linked to Online Dating Scams
The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, known as the Hawks, is requesting the public’s help in locating a wanted suspect in the Western Cape.
Provincial spokesperson, Warrant Officer Zinzi Hani, stated that Innocent Aleokhai Abinokhauno is sought in connection with allegations of fraud, perjury, and identity theft.
The case is being handled by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit, and a warrant for Abinokhauno’s arrest has been issued after he failed to appear in court for an ongoing trial.
“Innocent Aleokhai Abinokhauno is also on trial for charges of fraud and money laundering, having allegedly defrauded victims through online dating scams. He failed to appear before the court, prompting a warrant for his arrest,” Hani said.
Anyone with information on Abinokhauno’s whereabouts is urged to contact Investigating Officer Colonel De Wee at 082 463 3696.
In a separate case, two suspects, Mluleki Nkosi (27) and Mhlongishwa President Magagula (28), appeared briefly in the Kuilsriver Magistrate’s Court after being arrested for transporting R1.7 million worth of drugs from Gauteng to Cape Town.
The duo was apprehended on September 27 after their Toyota Hilux bakkie was stopped near Kraaifontein. During the search, officers found 215 parcels of compressed cannabis hidden in false compartments in the trailer.
The case has been postponed to October 7 for a formal bail hearing, and the suspects remain in custody.
