Benjamin Dube to perform his final show

GOSPEL star Benjamin Dube is moving out of Mzansi.

The legendary singer revealed to Daily Sun that he’s focusing on penetrating the African space as a whole and not just focusing on Mzansi.

The 62-year-old Ngiyakuthanda, I Rise Again and Bow Down and Worship hitmaker will be hosting one of his last shows in Mzansi on 30 November at the Chosen World Ministries in Rispark, Joburg.

“This is rounding off in South Africa what I’ve done in the past years. I believe now one has to look into Africa and really bring the continent into In His Presence. Certainly, this is kind of like a step ladder into a new space.

“So, this show will be wrapping up South Africa and then I’m moving into the continent,” he said.

He said the show at the Chosen World Ministries is also special as people have asked for it. He’ll be performing songs in the In His Presence series.

“We’re taking it to the south and west of Joburg because people have been asking us to come that side. Our shows are usually on the east side, which is Ekurhuleni. I thought, let me bring it to the people and the whole In His Presence.

“It includes favourite songs people have come to love. I’ve never done that. I think it’s going to be intimate. We’ll be interacting with the audience to see which songs carried them through life’s challenges. I’ll be doing what they want me to do, not what I think they want,” he said.

The bishop said people can send their song requests via social media.

“People have already begun sending their requests. All they need to do is go to the Dube Connection page and tell us which songs they want, and our preparations will be around that.”

Gospel legend Hlengiwe Mhlaba will be featured on the project.

“We’re not featuring a lot of people. One song, which is recent, and people are calling for is Kubobonke oThixo, and we’ve spoken to Hlengiwe Mhlaba, and she’ll be there. Currently, people love that song. It was uploaded a month ago and it’s already on 2,9 million views,” he said.

“Honestly, we didn’t think this song would do this great, especially when it came to the collaboration. We didn’t see it coming. It’s only after that we realised the song was loved by many people. I’ve done the song before on my previous albums, but the collaboration with Hlengiwe made it bigger. And of course, the atmosphere in Legendary was electrifying and made the song amazing,” the bishop said.
