Ginimbi Gets Versace Mausoleum, International Visitors

The family of the late flamboyant businessman Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure unveiled his tombstone and mausoleum with a touch of grandeur and excitement in Domboshava last weekend.

The mausoleum, intricately constructed, incorporated the late businessman’s beloved Versace embellishments.

Family and friends gathered from distant places to witness the unveiling of the tombstone, marking it as a commemoration of the life of a man who made a lasting impact on Zimbabwean society.

Businesswoman Zodwa Mkandla, who was Ginimbi’s partner, was one of the speakers at the event. In her address, Mkandla discussed the complex relationship she had with the late Ginimbi.

“We used to fight all the time but we loved each other dearly. He was a very good friend of mine. It was a huge loss to lose him. I’m sure those who stayed with him, who survived with him, knew the kind of person that he was.

“He was a person that loved having fun and playing around. Genius worked hard and played very hard, but he did everything that he did out of love. He loved his family, he loved his friends,” she said.

Self-proclaimed retired blesser, South African socialite Serge Cabonge, said Ginimbi has inspired young people to want to work hard.

“The Legacy of Ginimbi taught the young generation to work hard, the spot Ginimbi left is big and was the best, as he was a good friend more like a brother to those close to him,” Cabonge said.

Ginimbi died on the spot on November 8 2020 along Liberation Legacy Way in Harare when his speeding Rolls Royce collided head-on with a Honda Fit.

Two people, model Alicia Adams and fitness trainer, Michelle “Moana’ Amuli were burnt to death when the car veered off the road and hit a tree before catching fire.

The doors of the Rolls Royce jammed on impact and it took many hours for police and the Fire Brigade to retrieve their remains from the wreckage.
