Late night partying turns near-fatal for university student as boyfriend stabs her multiple times

A Harare man has fled after stabbing his partner many times with a kitchen knife in a fit of fury.

Audrey Nyasha Rwambiwa, 25, was savagely attacked by Webster Mubati over the weekend after returning home late from a party in Harare.

Audrey, a student at Women’s University in Africa, was hospitalized and is now fighting for her life at Parirenyatwa Hospital.

The incident happened at Tanaka Place on Josiah Chinamano Avenue, where Audrey lived with her lover, Webster Mubati.

According to sources, the incident began when Audrey arrived home about 3 a.m. on Saturday after attending a party at a friend’s house the night before. Webster, angry by her late arrival, began to abuse her.

During the altercation in a fit of rage, Webster reportedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Audrey multiple times. He stabbed her on her left breast, finger, arm, and ribs. Desperate to escape, Audrey ran into the toilet, but Webster followed and continued the attack, stabbing her on the back and left shoulder.

Audrey managed to lock herself in the bathroom and later broke a window to escape. She sought help from neighbors, who quickly responded and rushed her to Parirenyatwa Hospital, where she is currently being treated for her injuries.

Webster fled the scene after the attack, and the police are now searching for him. Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident and called for information that may lead to Webster’s arrest.

“Police are investigating an attempted murder case involving a university student who was stabbed by her lover. The suspect fled after the attack, and the victim is currently receiving treatment at the hospital,” said Inspector Chakanza.
