Man Jailed for S_3xual Abuse and Incest of Underage Family Member

A married man from the Midlands Province has been slapped with a five-year prison sentence after it was discovered that he impregnated his 14-year-old sister.

The man from Mabhungu Village in the Chiwundura area must serve his sentence effectively.

The man’s identity has been withheld to protect the sister’s identity. Gweru provincial magistrate Beaulity Dube convicted the 31-year-old after he pleaded guilty to all charges in the court of law.

The offender will serve an effective four years after the magistrate suspends one year on the condition of good behaviour. The suspended year will be suspended for 5 years.

The court heard that the accused engaged in consensual lulalula with his sister on many occasions between August and December last year, resulting in the girl falling pregnant.

The matter came to light when their mother noticed her daughter’s belly was growing and suspected that she was pregnant.
Their mother took her young daughter to the Johanne Masowe church shrine, where they confirmed that the girl was pregnant. She was asked who had impregnated her and said the name of her brother, to the shock of the entire family.

The matter was reported to the police, who arranged for a medical examination at Gweru Provincial Hospital, which confirmed the pregnancy, leading to the subsequent arrest of the man.

The offender, who also has a pregnant wife at home, accused his little sister of seducing him by dressing provocatively.

He also claimed that his sister would demand to sit on his lap or be carried on his back.
