NRZ Dismisses General Manager Respina Zinyanduko

The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) has dismissed its general manager, Respina Zinyanduko, effective January 31, 2025, as part of efforts to restructure and realign the organisation.
In an official statement, NRZ confirmed the leadership change, citing the need to reorganise operations in accordance with shareholders’ expectations.
“The Board of Directors of the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) wishes to inform members of the public that Ms. Respina Zinyanduko has ceased to be the General Manager of NRZ with effect January 31, 2025.” This has been necessitated by the need to realign and restructure the NRZ business in line with the expectation of the shareholders,” read part of the statement.
However, opposition politician Linda Masarira suggested that Zinyanduko’s dismissal was due to allegations of negligence, incompetence, and other undisclosed charges.

“We have finally fired Spina Zinyanduko.” This morning, her dismissal stemmed from charges of negligence, incompetence, and several other offences. It is crucial for @ZACConline to reopen corruption dossiers at @NRZ263 that we previously filed,” Masarira stated on X (formerly Twitter).
She further called for a commission to temporarily oversee NRZ’s operations and a comprehensive audit, particularly focusing on the organisation’s real estate division.
Masarira expressed optimism that after implementing the necessary reforms, NRZ could regain its position as Zimbabwe’s top bulk transporter.
The developments mark a significant leadership shakeup at NRZ as the organisation navigates efforts to revitalise its operations.
