Tsenengamu’s Political Comeback Speech Cut Short by Accusation

Godfrey Tsenengamu, the former Zanu-PF Youth League Political Commissar, encountered an unexpected disruption during a press conference in Harare. The interruption came from a man who accused him of owing him two goats.

Tsenengamu, who now leads the FRONT for Economic Emancipation in Zimbabwe (FEEZ), had previously announced his departure from politics to focus on anti-corruption efforts. However, during Tuesday’s event, he declared his return to the political arena.

As he was preparing to outline his agenda, an unidentified man barged into the venue, causing a scene. Before claiming he owed Tsenengamu goats for his campaign efforts during the 2023 general elections, the man first demanded money from him.

“You made us campaign for Mnangagwa in Mt. Darwin, and you promised to pay me with two goats. Now that you’re back in politics, I demand what’s rightfully mine.

Tsenengamu, however, denied the claims, stating that he neither knew the man nor owed him anything. In an attempt to de-escalate the situation, Tsenengamu offered cash equivalent to the value of the two goats, but the man refused, demanding the livestock itself.

“I don’t know anything about your goats. If you believe I owe you, report it to the police. Tsenengamu responded, “I’m convinced they sent you here to disrupt this press conference.”

The commotion ultimately led to the cancellation of the briefing.

Despite the interruption, Tsenengamu reaffirmed his commitment to challenging the current government. A former supporter of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Tsenengamu has since become one of his critics.

“I’m fully returning to politics because it impacts every aspect of life, including the initiatives I care about, such as fighting corruption, promoting economic empowerment, and supporting charitable causes. We cannot remain passive as personal gain exploits state institutions,” he stated.
